About us

Industry Mingle is a non-profit organization created by graduate students at the University of Calgary. During the pandemic, everyone found themselves isolated to some degree.

This was especially true for graduate students who found themselves stuck in a virtual world with limited networking options, and fewer relationships with people in industry to help them take the next step in their careers.

We decided to do something about it and Industry Mingle was born! Industry Mingle is a safe, free and online networking platform for people to connect, network, and get inspired.

We are bringing together some of the most brilliant scientists, engineers, data scientists and more to connect with industry leaders, who, in turn, will have the chance to meet the up and coming minds that will be responsible for the future of science, industry and the shape of our world.

Come join us for this amazing opportunity!

Now, let’s meet the team.

Hi! My name is Mary, I am a founder of the Industry Mingle.

I obtained Ph.D. in biophysical chemistry at the University of Calgary in November 2022. In my research, I used computational biophysics and electrophysiology to investigate drug interactions in the heart at the molecular level.

Working with so many talented people in industry and academia, I realized there was a gap between graduate students (Master’s and Ph.D.’s) and the opportunities available in the industry. I was inspired to start Industry Mingle as a powerful way to create synergy and bridge the gap between academia and industry and bring people together.

In my free time, I love snowboarding, hiking, and painting, and I have a passion for fashion.

Hello! My name is Rishika and I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Biochemistry focused on protein purification at the University of Calgary.

When I am not being a scholar, I love to cook fancy and elaborate dishes and scroll through Instagram.

Hi there! My name is Maria. I am a PhD candidate at the University of Calgary. I study the interactions between different molecules on heart cell models performing computational simulations.

Besides research, I enjoy mountain biking, tennis, and hiking. I am a coffee lover; that is why I am always up for some coffee.

Hey Shang here! I’m a student with biology and computational background from the old continent. Currently, I’m working toward a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry using computational tools.

During my free time, I like to take pictures of my friends, animals, and the amazing landscape of western Canada with my cameras.

Most of the pictures that you see on this website are actually taken by me.

I’m a University of Calgary alumni who really enjoyed my time here building data analytics and research skills. I have previously worked in project management in the oil and gas industry. In my free time I enjoy baking and I’m a coffee enthusiast. I’ve also been known to occasionally hit the slopes for some snowboarding!
